I grew up in a military family, with the opportunity to travel both stateside and abroad. It gave me a wide-angle view of life, and a respect for all its variety and I think, a lasting belief that people can change.
A career change in my mid-thirties led me to work that really fed my soul, helping people sort out their lives and move toward more passionate, meaningful experiences. Twelve years into this work, I still feel deeply called to it.
Together, we’ll look at ways you’ve been inhabiting your life have been both helping you and how they’re getting in the way of living the life you want. I’ll encourage you re-connect to your inner resources that have been with you all along your life’s journey, integrate these resources with new skills and insights into your life, helping you forward into the enriched life you desire.
Who I like to work with
I enjoy working with a wide range of people, across many walks of life. What they often share is the sense of carrying a great deal and a longing to feel more connected to their lives.
I have a special interest in men’s issues and the complexities of masculinity, relationships, identity, and emotional life. I also enjoy working with women around the unique complexities of womanhood, relationships, identity, and the ways we change throughout our lives.
Another area especially meaningful to me is working with emerging adult women as they navigate the transition into adulthood and discover who they are and how they want to live.
I also enjoy working with individuals who want to explore their sexuality, deepen their understanding of desire and intimacy, and create more satisfying sexual experiences.
What it’s like to work with me
Therapy with me is warm, curious, and collaborative. I’m interested not only in what has happened to you, but in how those experiences continue to shape the way you relate to yourself, other people, and the life you are creating.
I tend to be engaged and conversational. I’ll listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, notice patterns, and sometimes gently challenge you when I think there is something worth looking at more deeply. There is room for humor, complexity, emotion, and the parts of you that don’t always make perfect sense.
“Living by principles is not living your own life. It is easier to
try to be better than you are than to be who you are.”
